Product Features & Choosing Your Mugi
Which Mugi size is right for me?
It depends on what you’re sipping.
- 8oz is best for specialty coffee, tea, matcha, and smaller drinks.
- 12oz is better if you like more room for ice, milk, or larger drinks.
- Mugi Māi (25oz) is made for water, long days, and staying hydrated on the go.
Does Mugi keep drinks hot or cold?
Yes. Our 8oz and 12oz Mugis are made for both hot and cold drinks, and can keep beverages hot or cold for up to 4 hours depending on usage.
Mugi Māi 25oz is made for cold drinks and can keep them cold for up to 8 hours depending on usage. Since it comes with a straw lid, we do not recommend using it for hot beverages.
Are Mugi lids spillproof?
Not all Mugi lids are spillproof, yet. Some colors come with spillproof lids, while others come with our regular lids. Spillproof options are marked on the website, (“spillproof” tag), so please check the product details before placing your order.
Will my drink have a metallic taste?
All Mugi products have a ceramic-coated interior, so your drink stays tasting the way it should, without that metallic aftertaste.
Is Mugi BPA free?
Yes. Mugi lids are made from premium Tritan, a shatter-resistant material that is 100% BPA free. The body is made from stainless steel with a ceramic-coated interior.
Does Mugi fit car cup holders?
Yes. All Mugi products are designed to fit in most standard car cup holders, though fit may vary depending on the car model and cup holder size.
Product Use & Care
How can I keep my drink hotter for longer?
For the best heat retention, we recommend warming your Mugi before use. Before pouring in your coffee, tea, or other hot drink, fill your Mugi with hot water for a minute or two. Warming the ceramic-coated interior first helps your drink stay hotter for longer.
How should I clean my Mugi lid?
For best results, rinse your lid soon after use, especially after coffee, matcha, milk-based drinks, or sweet drinks. These can dry and build up around the lid’s small openings and inner layers if left unwashed.
Wash the lid with warm, soapy water using a soft sponge, and pay extra attention to the sipping area, seal, and any small grooves or openings. Let it dry fully before putting it back on your Mugi.
We recommend using gentle soap and a soft sponge to help keep your lid in the best condition.
Can Mugi survive drops and bumps?
Mugi is designed for regular use, but it is not completely dent-proof. Some drops or strong bumps may cause small dents, scratches, or marks depending on the impact.
Can I put Mugi in the freezer or microwave?
No. For your safety and to protect your Mugi, please do not microwave, freeze, or put any Mugi product in the dishwasher. Always hand wash only.
Can I put carbonated drinks inside Mugi?
Carbonated drinks are not recommended when the lid is closed, as pressure can build up and may cause leaking, spilling, or spraying when opened.
If you choose to use carbonated drinks, please do not seal them inside your Mugi. For Mugi Māi (25oz), use it with the lid off. For spillproof lids, keep the switch open so pressure can release.
Mugi Māi
Is Mugi Māi spillproof, and can I put it in my bag?
Mugi Māi is spillproof and leakproof when the straw cover is properly secured. It can be carried in your bag, but for extra safety, we recommend keeping it upright, especially when carrying it with electronics, documents, or other items that could be damaged by spills.
What can I attach to the Mugi Māi hook?
You can attach charms, keychains, mini plushies, or lightweight accessories to personalize your Mugi Māi. We recommend choosing items without sharp edges, rough surfaces, or metal parts as they may scratch the bottle with movement.
Can I use Mugi Māi for smoothies, protein shakes, iced coffee, or other drinks?
Mugi Mai is designed for water, but you can use it for other cold drinks as well. For drinks with milk, protein, fruit, or other fresh ingredients, we recommend drinking them within a safe amount of time and washing your Mugi Mai soon after use to keep it fresh. Please note that thicker drinks may clog the straw and require deeper cleaning.
Can I put carbonated drinks inside Mugi Māi?
Carbonated drinks are not recommended when the lid is closed, as pressure can build up and may cause leaking, spilling, or spraying when opened.
If you choose to use carbonated drinks, please do not seal them inside your Mugi. For Mugi Māi (25oz), use it with the lid off. For spillproof lids, keep the switch open so pressure can release.
How should I clean my Mugi Māi and its straw?
We recommend washing your Mugi Māi and straw daily if you use it regularly. Remove the straw and clean it with the dedicated straw cleaning brush using warm, soapy water.
Let all parts dry fully before reassembling.
Do not use harsh cleaning products, as they may damage the product.
